Miniature pigs are being more commonly kept as companion animals. In most cases they live a very contented life as cherished members of a human family. These are intelligent and gregarious animals and both their owners and veterinary clinicians need good knowledge of their normal behaviour, nutritional and environmental requirements
Medical treatment of miniature pigs is complicated by the fact that they are legally regarded as food animals. However, we have never encountered a case where one of these animals has entered the food chain.
