Non Domestic Cats
Servals and Caracals
These are the most common species of exotic cats that are presented to us. These very active and intelligent species require carefully thought out environments to provide adequate exercise and mental stimulation. Stereotypic behaviours are common with inadequate environments
Preventative medicine protocols are especially important in these species given the potential for the spread of a wide range of pathogens from domestic cats.
Nutritional requirements have been very poorly studied however, there is evidence that for certain nutrients the requirements are different from the domestic cat.
